Sara’s Inspiring Community Support in the Face of Breast Cancer

Laura Freeman Fundraising, News

Sara Ottley, the Wellness Navigator at Ledian Gardens in Leeds Village, embraces life to the full, both in her personal and professional life. However, in January of this year, Sara received a diagnosis of grade 3 invasive breast cancer.

Sara’s community at Inspired Villages, Ledian Gardens, rallied around her. Residents came together, crafting macrame ribbons and selling them to raise funds. Their efforts have amounted to £130, which has been added to Sara’s JustGiving page.

Inspired Friendships Kent, a Maidstone based Community Friendships Service, also joined in support. Linda Ross, a member battling her own health challenges, attending Maidstone hospital for dialysis three times a week, organised an Easter raffle that raised an impressive £404 for Breast Cancer Kent.

Sara maintains a positive outlook. She acknowledges the profound impact of those four words, “You have breast cancer,” and has embarked on a dual mission: to conquer cancer and raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Kent.

Pictures attached show the macramé breast cancer ribbons, hand made by residents at Inspired Villages, Ledian Gardens, raising £130; and Linda Ross with Judith Stevens, Trustee of Breast Cancer Kent, accepting the donation of £404 from Inspired Friendships Kent.

Thank you to you all for this inspiring story and for the very welcome funds donated to our charity – it all helps those who are diagnosed with breast cancer in Kent.
