where does the money go

Where Does The Money Raised For The Charity Go?

Breast Cancer Kent relies solely on donations from the great British public for its work. Every donation and legacy, small or large, is gratefully received and put to good use. The charity is run by Trustees and volunteers who give of their time completely free of charge so that all money raised for the charity goes to the charity – helping to improve the well being of those with a breast cancer diagnosis in Kent.

Over the last few years over half a million pounds has been raised. Some funds go to small projects such as pilates classes, alternative therapy sessions and social support groups. Here is a list of some of the larger equipment purchases the charity has made to help the breast cancer units:

A rapid tissue processor – £55,000

Radiotherapy DVSs – £11,950

Mammatone machine – £20,000

Faxitron machine – £52,799

Ultrasound system – £23,224

Mammatome Elite System – £12,222

Ultrasound system 2 – £73,743

Tomosynthesis machine – £144,000

Breath-hold radiotherapy equipment – £9,417

Microbiological safety cabinet – £7,050

Faxitron 2 – £98,500

Still more funding is needed for ever developing technologies, more complex answers to treatment, support groups for younger breast cancer patients and support groups for those with a secondary breast cancer diagnosis.
