Adam, Dave & John cycled from London to Brighton for Breast Cancer Kent

Their Story…

Our beautiful friend, wife and sister Helen Francis was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of just 42 in September 2021. After undergoing chemotherapy for nine long months, in summer 2022 she was able to celebrate finishing treatment.

Sadly though in November 2022 her cancer returned and has been identified as the triple negative type of breast cancer, which is unfortunately not currently curable. She is undergoing chemotherapy again, which has helped keep the cancer under control so far. Throughout her illness Helen has shown incredible positivity, good humour and resilience which has inspired us all.

Helen has been supported throughout her treatment by the wonderful charity Breast Cancer Kent. As her friend (Adam), husband (Dave) and brother (John), we raised money for the charity by cycling the 55 miles from London to Brighton on 10th September.

We made it! After many hours in the saddle and on a pretty hot day, we passed the finish line in Brighton just in time for lunch at 1pm. It was a memorable day and although it was quite gruelling at times (especially Ditchling Beacon), spurring us on was the knowledge that we were doing it for a cause close to our hearts. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored us. We have been really touched by your generosity and kindness.
